Corten steel sculpture and planting in front of a brick home, McKinnon Archiscape

Want to create harmony between a new contemporary garden and an iconic architectural home? Here's how.

Maximising the relationship between house and garden, the front garden layout is a reflection of the house façade. The extruded brick theme was continued with the adjoining pathway using recycled bricks left over on site. Garden lighting accents the signature angular features at night.

The rear garden includes a confident corten sculpture within a gabion retaining wall garden bed. The laser cut garden sculpture was made locally in Melbourne by www.lump.com.au.

Our favourite? Bluestone crazy paving mixed with silver Top Ash timber custom bench seating surrounding oversized corten planters. And the backdrop of a Weathertex feature wall, covering up a previously unsightly garage shed wall. All fabricated on site.

The plant schedule includes a mix of assertive silvers and complementary greens in a range of textures and forms, while a separate edible garden produces a bounty of organic produce.

Gabion retaining wall (timber seat addition) featuring native planting to complement the corten steel garden sculpture. The space becomes the hero at night, accented with feature lighting.
